Catherine

Catherine believes in the power of people working together for change. Her practice as a facilitator, trainer and consultant is based on experience working in roles from emergency grants manager in an UK-based charity, to founder of a local NGO support organisation in Iran and from manager of a multi-agency consortium to board member of a local youth club in the UK.

Since starting her freelance work in 2000, she has focussed on capacity building practice for small and medium sized organisations.  – including developing strategy, building skills, governance, leadership and organisational values. Most recently she has been training consultants who are supporting organisational change with NGOs.

Catherine has experience of working in the Middle East and with Muslim communities in Ethiopia, Cyprus and Pakistan. She researched a history of the development of Civil Society in Iran (published by INTRAC). She has also worked in West, Central and Southern Africa, Thailand and the UK.

Interests: I’ve been a volunteer community and workplace mediator for about 4 years in my own area around Cambridge. It’s very rewarding to be able to help people to find a way forward out of conflict.  Mediation puts all of Framework’s values into practice: connecting people with each other and to their own needs, integrity in remaining committed to people finding their own solutions, and creativity in finding ways to open up different ways of thinking.

I’m also a keen grower of fruit and vegetables, make my own jams, and involved in The Cambridge Commons – a local project to tackle social inequality.
